Life after St Martha’s back passage

Snow + Rock G3 run series

The Surrey hills, undulating countryside and woodlands were home to the final of the Snow+Rock G3 run series, which came to an end this weekend. Over 950 athletes completed one or more of the gruesome 10k runs made only slightly more bearable by the fancy new electronic chip timing system and For Goodness Shakes recovery drink waiting at the finish line.

The knee trembling back passage, sandy paths and long slippery fields didn’t deter the athletes as they scrambled across the line wishing they’d never taken up running in the first place. Regular G3 runners including Jake Moran, Andy Ward, Dave Rollins, Sarah Rollins and Louise Curtis dominated the races, some of which were seen racing the next day in another 20k xc race!

Full credit is due to the 38 volunteer marshals who helped bring this race together and with whom the races would not work. Further gratitude is also accredited to Surrey Wildlife Trust who manages the land throughout the year for walkers, cyclists and runners alike.
